Cuối tháng 5. Thời tiết Hà Nội lửng lơ đỏng đảnh, lúc như mới chớm thu, lúc lại như sắp sang đông. Thế nên phượng vĩ, bằng lăng dường như chưa đủ nắng để bung nở khắp các con phố như mọi năm. Nhưng dù có vậy, thì một năm học cũng đã kết thúc, và bạn bé nhà mình bắt đầu nghỉ hè. Năm nay, mình phải "trả nợ" bạn ý một chuyến đi Nhật Bản, nợ từ mùa anh đào năm trước, khi mà mọi việc đã xong mà bạn ấy phải ở nhà vì không có bạn đi chơi cùng. Năm nay, tiện có "thổ dân", tiện có cả bạn thân của bạn ấy cùng đi, mẹ con nhà mình mua vé phút cuối bay đi Nhật mà không cần chuẩn bị một tẹo gì cả. Vì khách sạn đã có người đặt cho, vé tàu thì ở cả trong JRpass, và chương trình thì... chả có gì liên quan đến Nhật Bản cả, chỉ toàn Disney, Universal, Aquarium. Thi thoảng, trợ lý kiêm thợ ảnh của chuyến đi là mình mới được xen vào chút shopping, chút ăn uống. Còn thì tịnh không đền chùa cung điện núi non vườn tược tẹo nào. Đến tận Himeiji mà cũng đứng ngó ngó chút rồi đi, vì trẻ con không có hứng với những chủ đề này, để các bạn phải đợi thì tội các bạn quá.
Thế nên, một tuần ở Nhật chỉ thu hoạch được chút hoa lá cành ở vườn Nabana No Sato ở Mie, trên đường di chuyển từ Tokyo về Kyoto mà thôi.

"Thổ dân" bảo tháng 6 là vào mùa mưa ở Nhật, đi đầu tháng có thể gặp ít mưa, còn từ giữa tháng thì có thể gặp mưa tầm tã suốt. Thế mà 7 ngày ở Nhật, chúng tôi có 7 ngày nắng ráo, sáng và tối se lạnh, một chiếc áo gió, một chiếc khăn quàng là đủ ấm, còn trong ngày trời xanh nắng vàng rực rỡ. Vậy nên trẻ con tha hồ chơi đùa trong những xứ sở yêu thích của chúng. Còn hai bà mẹ, chủ đạo là ngồi chờ, thi thoảng bon chen xếp hàng chơi cùng những trò mà mức độ mạo hiểm ở level thấp, chỉ biết mong chờ vào thời tiết đẹp và những hứa hẹn về hồng, về tú cầu ở vườn Nabana No Sato mà thôi. Tương truyền, mùa mưa là mùa hoa tú cầu ở Nhật. Hình ảnh những đoàn tàu đi xuyên những vạt hoa rực rỡ thật như trong cổ tích. Nhưng trước khi tới vườn tú cầu, cả nhà đã ngập ngụa choáng váng trong nhà kính với những chậu hoa đại, bông to như cái bát, và rực rỡ đủ màu.

"Thổ dân" đã đọc cho tên hoa rồi, nhưng tiếng Nhật không biết, mà cũng chẳng biết tên tiếng Việt là gì (liệu có không ta?), nên chỉ gọi là hoa "bát" mà thôi.

Bước chân ra khỏi nhà hoa mát lạnh là vườn hồng ngập nắng và hoa. Không khí thơm ngát hương hoa khiến mình hơi lãng đãng nhớ về mùa hè năm trước, cũng giờ này, cũng đang ngập trong những vườn hồng ở Colmar, ở Vienna, ở Luzern.

Nhưng highlights của vườn mùa này lại là hoa cẩm tú cầu. Hình ảnh quảng cáo là cả một đồng hoa mênh mông bát ngát nở rộ. Tú cầu là nàng thơ của mùa mưa Nhật Bản. Nhưng đáng tiếc là chúng tôi đi tránh mùa mưa, gặp toàn nắng nên đồng hoa chưa vào độ rộ. Các đồng hoa tạo hình cũng đang đóng cửa để lắp đặt hệ thống đèn, phục vụ chương trình lighting up khi hoa nở rộ.

Bù lại, một đường hoa với hàng trăm chậu của 50 loài tú cầu đẹp nhất Nhật Bản đang được trưng bày trên lối vào đồng tú cầu. Và ngắm hết đường hoa này, mình tự hỏi có còn bao giờ thấy tú cầu ở đâu đẹp nữa không?
